We all know that orange and black are the standard “Halloween colors.” But why? Who said so? Have you ever thought about breaking out of the mold and making Halloween decorations in a different color scheme? I know I have. I’m so tired of seeing orange and black everywhere. It’s not a flattering color combination to begin with, and then the abundance of orange and black during the month of October is just overkill, at least in my eyes.
That’s why this year I’m going rogue. I’ve decided I want to embrace my girly side this Halloween and make a dainty, frilly, pink (yes, I said pink!) decoration. I’ve chosen this fun Beware Tulle Wreath as my “experimental” project. I love how the tulle makes it light and airy and the pink boa makes it girly, but the “Beware” sign and the creepy crow accent piece give it the necessary Halloween flair.
If you want to make a bold statement this Halloween, check out the tutorial on how to make this unexpected wreath over on our sister site, AllFreeHolidayCrafts.com.
And don’t forget that you can pick up your supplies (and at a discounted price to boot!) over on CutRateCrafts.com. Their tulle selection is especially nice. They have a bunch of colors to choose from, including a lovely black that would be perfect for this wreath project! They even have a hot pink boa, which is an essential part of making this girly decoration. It just wouldn’t be the same without the feather boa!
While you’re on the CutRateCrafts site, you should also check out their selection of “bling.” You can pretty much find everything you’ll need to bedazzle your “Beware” sign. I was floored by how many kinds of rhinestones and other shiny gems they have to choose from. I’m really liking the “Dark Amethyst” color rhinestones right now but I have to admit I’m probably going to pick up some other bling as well for future projects. Because really, you can never have too much bling!
I know my wreath is going to cause quite a stir in my neighborhood this Halloween and honestly I can’t wait. People need to think more outside the box when they decorate for Halloween and I’m hoping with this wreath I’ll inspire them to use colors other than orange and black!
